GHRP-1

GHRP-1 is a synthetic growth hormone-releasing peptide developed from enkephalin-analog research and acting at the ghrelin/GHS receptor. It belongs to the same secretagogue family as GHRP-2, GHRP-6 and hexarelin and is studied in growth-hormone-axis research. It is not authorized by Health Canada for therapeutic use.

Source & context

Biological / chemical source: Synthetic met-enkephalin-derived GHRP

Primary research or clinical context: Research compound (not authorized by Health Canada)

Place in the GHRP family

GHRP-1 was among the earliest peptidyl growth hormone secretagogues synthesized after the discovery that enkephalin-amide analogs could release GH. It is closely related to GHRP-2, GHRP-6 and hexarelin, sharing the ghrelin-receptor mechanism rather than any sequence homology with GHRH.

Research framing

Published work examines GH release, receptor pharmacology and possible cytoprotective signaling across the GHRP class. Human clinical use is limited, and online protocols are not a substitute for controlled research design or licensed medical care. This page is educational only.
